My Approach
I believe that every person is a unique blend of personality, temperament, and lived experiences and that these work together to create a filter through which we see the world. These filters may be accurate, but are often born of a need to protect ourselves and can be skewed and maladaptive. My goal is to help my clients understand how their beliefs and behavioral patterns were formed and reinforced over the course of their lives and help them analyze whether or not these are accurate and helpful. We then work collaboratively to examine different ways of perceiving self, others, and events and work to develop new, more adaptive coping skills, habits, communication styles, and behaviors. My experience is in treating trauma, depression, and anxiety and I have specialized training in the treatment modalities of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy, and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. I am a Christian and have the ability to understand dynamics unique to people of this faith, however I will not insert my religious beliefs into the session and will work with my clients based on their own beliefs.
